He encouraged Kwarans to participate, stressing that collective efforts can break the cycle of ignorance and stigma surrounding these diseases while promoting a proactive health approach.

The deputy governor also pointed out the necessity of adopting healthier lifestyles, such as eating well, exercising regularly, and having routine check-ups.

First Lady of Kwara State, Amb. Prof. Olufolake AbdulRazaq reiterated the government’s commitment to public health. She highlighted the significance of early detection and treatment to prevent complications from late diagnosis and urged residents to monitor their blood pressure and sugar levels.

Dr. Amina El-Imam, the Commissioner for Health, explained that Project Ten Million is an initiative supported by the Nigeria Health Commissioner’s Forum and the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, aiming to screen ten million Nigerians for hypertension and diabetes across all states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Rt. Honorable Yakubu Salihu Danladi, represented by Hon. Abdulkareem Musa, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, committing that all members of the House will work to raise awareness among their constituents.

Hon. Razaq Owolabi, Chairman of the House Committee on Health and Environment, praised the administration for prioritizing health and assured the State House of Assembly’s full support for residents’ wellbeing.

Development partners and stakeholders also commended the Kwara State government’s efforts to enhance residents’ health and pledged ongoing support for the initiative.
