Dominic Solanke’s brace guided Tottenham Hotspur to a thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester United in the EFL Cup quarter-final, keeping their hopes of a first trophy since 2008 alive.
Tottenham were in control with Solanke’s second goal in the 54th minute, added to his first-half opener and Dejan Kulusevski’s goal just after the break. However, goalkeeper Fraser Forster’s two mistakes allowed United to mount a comeback.

Ange Postecoglou’s men were teetering on the verge of collapse, but captain Son Heung Min scored directly from a corner with two minutes remaining, despite protests from keeper Altay Bayindir.
This ensured Jonny Evans’ stoppage-time header was only a consolation as Spurs advanced to the semi-finals. The loss left Ruben Amorim to reflect on his third defeat in charge.
