The Police in Imo State has taken to custody a Catholic priest, Joseph Ehinaya who shot a boy dead on New year’s eve.
The incident reportedly happened at the the St Columbus Catholic Church in the Amaimo community, Ikeduru local government area of the state.
Although the victim’s name is yet to be known, the boy was shot after he threw knockouts into the church in celebration of the New year.
The incident happened during the New Year Mass held on January 1, 2025, in Amaimo, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.
It has since sent the community into shock and chaos as many have condemned this action by the Catholic priest, calling for a proper investigation and arrest of the suspect.
The Imo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye said a detailed investigation had been initiated to ascertain the remote facts surrounding the incident.
He stated that further development on the case will be communicated in due course.
