America’s new president, Donald Trump has promised to be a “peace maker and unifier” while building “the strongest military we have ever seen.”

“Like in 2017, we will again build the strongest military the world has ever seen. We will measure our success not only by the battles we win but also by the wars that we end and perhaps, most importantly, the wars we never get into,” Trump said to an applauding crowd.

He also vowed that “the golden age of America begins right nowTru” and listed his priorities — on trade, immigration and national security — while criticizing President Joe Biden as he sat nearby, and declaring “America’s decline is over.” He also recalled the assassination attempt last year that nearly claimed his life and said he was “saved by God to Make America Great Again.”

Hours before the change in US leadership, Biden issued pardons for Gen. Mark Milley, Dr. Anthony Fauci and members of Congress who served on the committee investigating January 6. He also issued pre emptive pardons for his brothers, James and Frank, his sister Valerie and their spouses.

President Donald Trump delivered a softer version of his standard rally claim that foreign governments are deliberately emptying prisons and mental institutions to send people to the US as migrants. This time, he omitted the part about malicious foreign governments and claimed that the Biden administration “provides sanctuary and protection for dangerous criminals, many from prisons and mental institutions, that have illegally entered our country from all over the world.”

Netanyahu congratulates Trump, says “best days” are “yet to come”

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated US President Donald Trump on his second inauguration, saying in a video statement that “the best days of our alliance are yet to come.”

“Your first term as President was filled with groundbreaking moments,” Netanyahu said, listing some of the key steps Trump took during his first presidency, including the signing of the Abraham Accords which normalized diplomatic relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

“You withdrew from the dangerous Iran nuclear deal, you recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, you moved the American embassy to Jerusalem and you recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights,” he said.

“I’m confident that we will complete the defeat of Iran’s terror axis and usher in a new era of peace and prosperity for our region,” Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu also thanked Trump for his assistance in brokering Israel’s ceasefire and hostage deal with Hamas.

President Donald Trump falsely claimed in his inaugural address that the tariffs he imposed during his first presidency will be paid for by foreign countries, in turn “enriching” Americans.

Study after study, including one from the federal government’s bipartisan US International Trade Commission, found that Americans bore almost the entire cost of Trump’s tariffs on Chinese products in his first term. The tariffs are paid by US importers, not foreign exporters as Trump regularly claims, and it’s easy to find specific examples of companies that passed along the cost of the tariffs to US consumers.

Additionally, Trump mentioned creating a new “External Revenue Service” to collect revenue from tariffs on imports, a plan he has mentioned before. Again, it is US importers, not foreign exporters, who pay tariffs on imported goods — and often pass some or all those costs to US consumers.

Trump says he wants to forge a “colourblind and merit-based” society

President Donald Trump said that he will sign policies to end government diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

“This week, I will also end the government policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life. We will forge a society that is colorblind, and merit-based. As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female,” he said.

Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman prays for Israel at inauguration amid its war with Hamas

Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, speaking at President Donald Trump’s inauguration, referenced Israel’s war in Gaza in his benediction.

“Guide our schools and college campuses which have been experiencing such unrest, to inspire the next generation to pair progress with purpose, knowledge with wisdom and truth with virtue,” Burman, who is the President of Yeshiva University, said, seemingly referring to the pro-Palestinian protests that took place on college campuses nationwide last year.

He continued, with references to the ceasefire that went into effect Sunday and Trump’s vows to broker peace in the Middle East: “Hear the cry of the hostages — both American and Israeli — whose pain our president so acutely feels. We are so thankful for the three young women who yesterday returned home and pray that the next four years brings peace to Israel and throughout the Middle East.”

Rev. Lorenzo Sewell, senior pastor at 180 Church, and Priest Frank Mann of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, New York, also delivered benedictions.

Trump vows to “plant the Stars and Stripes on the planet Mars”

President Donald Trump vowed during his inaugural address that he will take steps toward Mars exploration on his watch.

“We will pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, launching American astronauts to plant the Stars and Stripes on the planet Mars,” Trump said.

He presented plans to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, to rename Denali “Mount McKinley, where it should be and where it belongs.”

The president also cast himself as a “peacemaker and a unifier,” even as parts of his inaugural address featured divisive and dark rhetoric.

Trump pledges a legacy of a “peace maker and unifier” while building strongest military ever seen

During his inaugural address on Monday, President Donald Trump said he wants to build a legacy as a “peace maker and unifier” while building “the strongest military we have ever seen.”

“Like in 2017, we will again build the strongest military the world has ever seen. We will measure our success not only by the battles we win but also by the wars that we end and perhaps, most importantly, the wars we never get into,” Trump said to an applauding crowd.

America “will not be intimidated,” Trump says as he lays out vision for country

President Donald Trump outlined his vision for how he will rebuild America and what he sees as the identity of the country during his inaugural address.

“Our power will stop all wars and bring a new spirit of unity to a world that has been angry, violent and totally unpredictable,” he said.

Trump projected a message of strength for the country, saying the United States will “not be conquered.”

“We will not be intimidated. We will not be broken and we will not fail. From this day on, the United States of America will be a free, sovereign and independent nation,” Trump said.

Finishing his address, the president reiterated his comments from the beginning of the speech that “our golden age has just begun.”
