In his inaugural speech, President Donald Trump said his “life was saved” by the grace of God to make America great again, in reference to the assassination attempt made on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania while he was on the campaign trail.

Trump has relayed religious imagery following the assassination attempt, with some of his supporters at the Republican National Convention viewing his survival as divine intervention.

Country music star Carrie Underwood is performing “America the Beautiful” following President Donald Trump’s inaugural address.

She sang a capella after there seemed to be an issue with the music. Individuals inside the Capitol Rotunda joined her in singing the song.

Trump claims Panama has violated treaty agreement

President Donald Trump claimed Monday during his inaugural address that Panama has violated treaty agreements that require neutrality in the canal’s operations.

“American ships are being severely overcharged and not treated fairly in any way, shape or form, and that includes the United States Navy,” Trump claimed. “And above all, China is operating the Panama Canal and we didn’t give it to China. We gave it to Panama. And we’re taking it back.

Trump reiterates plan to change the name of Gulf of Mexico

President Donald Trump said he will change the name of Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America today as he highlighted the several actions he will immediately take.

“America will reclaim its rightful place as the greatest, most powerful, most respected nation on Earth — inspiring the awe and admiration of the entire world,” Trump said. “A short time from now, we are going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.”

White House website declares “America is back” as Trump takes oath

Whitehouse.gov, the official website of the White House, reflected the transfer of power early Monday afternoon as President Donald Trump took the oath of office for the second time.

The new website layout declared “AMERICA IS BACK,” with a large image of Trump pointing outward. Visitors to the website see a short video of clips from Trump’s first term before being directed to the website, including Marine One, military flyovers and Trump saluting.

“Every single day I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America,” the website reads, echoing Trump’s inaugural address.

Below the image is a link directing visitors to executive actions. No executive actions were immediately listed, but Trump has promised numerous ones to be signed quickly following his swearing-in.

The website also includes biographies of Trump, Vice President JD Vance, first lady Melania Trump and the incoming Cabinet, as well as a section laying out the new administration’s priorities, including “end inflation and lower costs,” “tax cuts for American workers,” “secure America’s borders,” “American energy dominance” and “make American cities safe again.”

Trump vows to “immediately begin the overhaul of our trade system”

Donald Trump vowed on Monday to “immediately begin the overhaul of our trade system to protect American workers and families” as the 47th president of the United States.

“We will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens,” Trump said during his inaugural address. “For this purpose, we are establishing the External Revenue Service to collect all tariffs, duties and revenues.”

He added that this will bring in “massive amounts of money” to the country’s treasury “coming from foreign sources.”

Trump declares “national energy emergency” and reiterates promise to lower prices

President Donald Trump, in his first minutes in office, said he is declaring a “national energy emergency” to help to bring down prices, one of his key campaign promises.

“We will drill, baby, drill,” he said during his inaugural address on Monday.

Trump claimed in the speech that “the inflation crisis was caused by massive overspending and escalating energy prices.”

The new president also said he is going to direct his Cabinet to use “the vast powers at their disposal” to bring down the cost of goods.

Trump says he will “revoke the electric vehicle mandate”

Newly sworn-in President Donald Trump in his inaugural address highlighted several executive actions he said will take, including rolling back clean energy initiatives.

“With my actions today, we will end the Green New Deal and we will revoke the electric vehicle mandate, saving our auto industry and keeping my sacred pledge to my great American auto workers,” Trump said to applause. “In other words, you’ll be able to buy the car of your choice. We will build automobiles in America again at a rate that nobody could have dreamnt possible just a few years ago.”

He went on to thank auto workers for their “inspiring vote of confidence.”

“We did tremendously with their vote,” he added.
