The highly anticipated Nollywood movie crime thriller ‘Red Circle’ is set to hit cinema nationwide on June 6, Rixel Studios has announced.

The Rixel Studios took to its social media platforms to announce the global theatrical release of the movie to fans and lovers of film.

‘Red Circle’ is aimed at making a significant impact in Nollywood cinema, with stunning cinematography, high-octane action, as well as deeply emotional core.

The film, which brought together an ensemble of Nollywood’s finest cast and crew, also delivered a gripping narrative that blends suspense, action, and an unfiltered look at power and corruption in modern-day Lagos.

Nora Awolowo, one of the producers of the thriller movie, said that the ‘film is their labour of love’.

“This film is our labour of love; we have poured everything into creating an experience that is both thrilling and socially relevant. We cannot wait for audiences to experience ‘Red Circle’ on the big screen.”

The movie was directed by Akay Mason (Elevator Baby, Superstar), written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed (Brotherhood, Skinny Girl in Transit) and produced by Awolowo and Tijani-Ahmed.

The Red Circle featured a powerhouse cast, including Bukky Wright, Timini Egbuson, Tobi Bakre, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Branch, Omowunmi Dada, Mike Afolarin, Ruggedman Debo Macaroni among others.

Red Circle is more than just a thriller, it is a story about truth, power, and the risks of uncovering secrets that some would kill to keep hidden.

The movie followed investigative journalist Fikayo Holloway (played by Folu Storms), as she unravelled a web of secrets tied to a powerful crime syndicate in the Lagos metropolitan area.

Her investigation laid her to a mysterious businessman, who pulled the strings of corruption, wealth, drugs, and even murder in the city, but exposing him became a risk that threatened not only her life but the lives of those dear to her.

As global audiences demanded more authentic African storytelling, ‘Red Circle’ joined the wave of films putting Nollywood at the centre of international cinema.

“With the rise of investigative journalism narratives in pop culture, from documentaries to fictional thrillers, the film taps into the world’s growing fascination with corruption, media ethics, and whistleblower risks”.

The movie, which sets against the vibrant backdrop of Lagos, offered a distinctively Nigerian perspective on these issues that audiences at home and abroad could.

Rixel Studios and Nile Distribution aim to bring ‘Red Circle’ to the forefront of international cinema with strategic rollout and an extensive campaign. Presale tickets will be available soon with exclusive early screenings planned in select cities.
