Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri Wednesday presented the staff of office to Dr Ali Danburam as the Ptil Madagali, the paramount ruler of Madagali Chiefdom.
The ceremony marked a historic moment for Madagali which is among the seven newly created chiefdoms in the state. Others include Fufore, Maiha, Hong, Yungur, Gombi, and Michika.
Danburam, born on April 25, 1959, in Madagali, holds an MBBS degree earned in 1985. He was a pioneer staff member of Federal Medical Centre Yola and later rose to become the Chief Medical Director, a position he held from 2007 to 2019.
Addressing the gathering, Fintiri emphasized the importance of security, justice, and economic growth in the newly established chiefdom. He stated that Madagali had long deserved its own leadership structure, which had now become a reality.
“I call on all sons and daughters of Madagali, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally round the Ptil. Support him, walk with him, and uphold the values of unity, peace, and progress. A community can only flourish when its people stand together, speak with one voice, and work towards a common goal,” he said.
The governor directed district heads to transfer their allegiance, rights, and privileges to the new emirates and chiefdoms. He further instructed those traditional titles previously associated with old emirates be relinquished, with new ones recommended for approval in line with traditional statutes.
Danburam expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged to serve with fairness and dedication. He assured that his reign would focus on justice, people’s welfare, and youth empowerment for the prosperity of the chiefdom.
“It’s a new era of unity, peace, and economic prosperity in the chiefdom,” he declared.
The creation of new chiefdoms marks a significant step in the restructuring of Adamawa’s traditional leadership, fostering inclusion and strengthening governance at the grassroots level.
