The Upper Area Court I in Ilorin, Kwara State, has ruled in favor of Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Elizabeth Anjorin, dismissing the criminal case brought against her.

The lawsuit, which involved a land dispute between Anjorin and Saheed Mosadoluwa as well as Harmony Gardens and Estate Development Limited, was marked by significant legal back-and-forth.

The complainant was represented by A. M. Abdulraheem, while Anjorin’s defense team included  Prof. O. Y. Abdulhamid, I. M. Adedo and Taofeeq Olateju.

The Attorney General intervened in the case, seeking its dismissal, and on Wednesday the court granted the application, resulting in the termination of both the original complaint, filed on February 26, 2025, and a subsequent counter-complaint lodged on March 11, 2025.

Judge Yunus Kayode, overseeing the case, explained that after considering the submissions from both parties and the Attorney General’s request to terminate proceedings, the court decided to dismiss the complaints.

“On this premise, the direct complaint dated February 24, 2025, and the cross-complaint dated March 11, 2025, are hereby terminated, and the defendants are hereby discharged,” Kayode stated.

In a Friday interview, Anjorin described the legal matter as a “cross-sue,” where both she and the complainant found themselves as defendants.

She explained that the case, which began as a land dispute in Lagos, was filed in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Anjorin stated, “When I got there, I presented my evidence, cross-sued, and both of us became defendants.”

Anjorin also clarified that while she had initially responded to the complaint in person, the complainant failed to appear for a key hearing.

Subsequently, she withdrew her counter-suit. She expressed appreciation for her legal team, supporters, and the Ilorin judiciary system for a favorable outcome.
