Fashion designer Kuforiji Oluwaseun, a native of Ogun State, has officially earned recognition from the Guinness World Records for setting a new world record in the longest sewing marathon.

The celebrated designer was presented with his certificate and plaque on Friday, marking the historic achievement.

Kuforiji sewed continuously for an astounding 106 hours, 55 minutes, and 20 seconds, from January 22 to January 26, 2024, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Armed with only a needle and thread, he exhibited extraordinary skill, patience, and craftsmanship.

In the first six hours of the marathon, Kuforiji had already completed a full Agbada outfit, demonstrating remarkable speed and precision.

By the time the marathon ended, he had sewn 18 complete outfits, showcasing both his endurance and dedication.

As the first Nigerian to hold this record, Kuforiji’s achievement highlights Ogun State’s reputation as a center of innovation and excellence.

It serves as a powerful inspiration to young talents, particularly within Nigeria’s fashion and textile industries, proving that Nigerian creatives can achieve global success.

With over a decade of experience in fashion design, Kuforiji is the founder of Koil Creations, his own fashion house.

A graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education in Ijebu-Ode, he expressed his gratitude to the people of Ogun State and his supporters during an interview in Ijebu-Ode.

“This victory is for Ogun State, for Nigeria, and for every young creative out there. It proves that hard work, passion, and perseverance can take us to the global stage,” Kuforiji stated.

Ogun State’s history of producing influential figures across various fields continues with Kuforiji’s achievement, which also draws attention to Nigeria’s growing fashion and textile sectors.

His accomplishment underscores the significant strides Nigerian artisans are making internationally and highlights the immense potential within the country.
