Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has revoked the permit granted the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, for its National Secretariat in Abuja.
A statement by the FCT Administration confirmed that the Right of Occupancy to the land was withdrawn due to “inconsistent documentation and non-compliance with regulatory procedures.” The decision adds to a series of administrative reforms Wike has been spearheading in the capital.
Credible News reports that the PDP secretariat at the Central Business District has been under construction for more than two decades.
Defending the move, Wike stressed that it aligns with efforts to enforce land-use policies and promote transparency in the FCT. He described the revocation as a necessary step to maintain order in the land administration system.
“The decision was taken in the interest of the public good and to uphold the integrity of our land administration system,” he stated.

The PDP, however, rejected the explanation, calling the action politically motivated. The party accused the minister of attempting to stifle opposition and vowed to challenge the revocation in court.
“This decision is an outright attack on the PDP and an attempt to stifle the opposition in the country,” the party said in a statement.
The revoked plot is part of a broader crackdown affecting over 4,000 land allocations. The FCTA said many allottees failed to pay ground rents for over a decade, with some defaults stretching as far back as 40 years.
