For Alma Asinobi, the Nigerian travel content creator, the Guinness World Record in a bit far from the grasp.  Her attempt visiting all seven continents in record time was completed her in 71 hours instead of the targeted 60 hours.

The 26-year-old embarked on the ambitious challenge to showcase the difficulties faced by holders of low-mobility passports while inspiring others to explore the world. Her journey tagged “AlmaChasing Continents,” began in Antarctica and took her through South America, North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Despite meticulous planning, she faced an unexpected hurdle in Dubai, where she was denied access to her final destination, Australia, due to visa complications. After spending over 56 hours in transit, she was placed on standby while awaiting confirmation from Australian authorities.

Asinobi eventually reached Sydney, Australia, marking the conclusion of her record attempt. Though she surpassed the initial time limit, she made history as the youngest and only Black solo traveler to attempt this category.

Throughout her journey, she relied on advanced GPS technology to document her movements, ensuring her travels met the verification standards required for official recognition. She carried a Nigerian passport, which ranks among the lowest in global mobility, granting visa-free access to only 46 countries.

Her experience highlights the bureaucratic challenges many African travelers face, particularly women. Despite these barriers, she remained determined to shift the narrative surrounding passport inequality and encourage global exploration.

Beyond her record attempt, Asinobi aims to set another milestone by collecting thousands of signatures on a Nigerian flag she carried throughout her trip. This initiative symbolizes unity and shared aspirations among fellow Nigerians.

Her journey has sparked discussions on travel restrictions and passport privilege, reinforcing the need for more inclusive policies that grant equal opportunities to travelers worldwide.
