The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has honored Miss Ifebude Benson, the top-performing candidate in the 2023 Senior Secondary Schools Certificate Examination by the National Examination Council, with a N500,000 cash prize.
The award was presented on the Governor’s behalf by the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, to Ifebude’s father, Mr. Ben Benson, during a ceremony held on Sunday in Akwa.
Chuma-Udeh highlighted that the award was part of the governor’s initiative to promote academic excellence in Anambra, reinforcing the state’s commitment to improving its educational system.
She emphasized that the state government had invested significantly in education to ensure that Anambra’s students can compete at an international level.

Ifebude, who hails from Ndikelionwu in Orumba North Local Government Area, achieved A1 grades in all nine subjects she sat for in the examination.
She has since been admitted to the University of Abuja to study Medicine and Surgery.
In his remarks, Mr. Benson expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo, noting that the award not only acknowledges his daughter’s hard work but also motivates her to continue striving for excellence while serving as a positive ambassador for Anambra State.
