Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan made a bold return to her hometown in Kogi State despite a government-imposed ban on rallies and movement restrictions.

Arriving in Okehi Local Government Area by helicopter, she was welcomed by a massive crowd of supporters eager to see her.

Hundreds of people gathered ahead of her arrival, waving placards and chanting slogans in solidarity with the senator. Despite calls from the police to cancel the rally, Akpoti-Uduaghan insisted on meeting her constituents, dismissing rumors that her trip had been canceled.

On Tuesday morning, the senator issued a strong warning, stating that Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, and former Governor Yahaya Bello should be held responsible if any violence disrupted the Sallah celebrations. She stressed her commitment to a peaceful event.

In a message on her verified Facebook page, Akpoti-Uduaghan reassured her supporters of her dedication to their welfare. “My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our PEACEFUL Sallah celebrations today. However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov Ododo, Yahaya Bello & SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible,” she wrote.

Her arrival has intensified political tension in Kogi State, as she remains a vocal opposition figure. A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, she is currently serving a six-month suspension from the Senate for allegedly violating legislative rules.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also faces a potential recall effort, which is reportedly backed by influential figures within the ruling All Progressives Congress. Her defiance of the movement restrictions has further fueled speculations about political maneuvering against her.

In recent months, the senator has been at the center of multiple controversies. She recently accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, a claim that has sparked debates within political circles. Her latest move signals her determination to remain active in the political scene despite ongoing challenges.

As supporters celebrate her arrival, many await the government’s next response to her defiance. With political tensions high, the developments in Kogi Central could shape future events in the state’s political landscape.
