Kogi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged attack on the family home of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night at Obeiba-Ihima in Okehi Local Government Area, where suspected hoodlums vandalised parts of the property.
A statement issued on Friday in Lokoja by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, confirmed the commencement of the probe.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Miller Dantawaye, directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to lead the investigation.
The command said the investigation aims to determine the cause of the attack and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted.
The police disclosed that the probe was initiated following a distress call received from one Yakubu Ovanja, an aide to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The call was made around 3:30 a.m. on April 16 to the Divisional Police Officer attached to the Okehi Division.
Ovanja reported that at about 1:00 a.m. the same day, three hoodlums armed with cutlasses invaded the senator’s family residence and damaged front windows.

“The DPO promptly mobilised his team to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment,” the statement said.
“Upon arrival, they met one Michael Akpoti, who narrated that the attackers attempted to break into the building using cutlasses but fled when he raised an alarm.”
The police said the command is committed to uncovering the truth behind the attack and ensuring that justice is served.
Meanwhile, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has also confirmed the incident, stating that the assailants might have believed she was in town at the time.
She noted that security operatives and community members responded swiftly, forcing the attackers to flee.
“No one was hurt. A report on the incident was quickly made at the police area command of the LGA,” she said.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan represents Kogi Central Senatorial District under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
