Christian leaders under the Church Leaders Denominational Forum have urged the Federal Government to end the persistent killings in Plateau.
The call was made during a peaceful protest on Monday led by Rev. Amos Mohzo, President of the Church of Christ in Nations and forum leader.
Mohzo decried the recent attacks, killings, and destruction of property in the state, urging authorities to act decisively to halt the violence.
He appealed to the Federal Government to collaborate with the state to install a robust security architecture capable of preventing further attacks.
“The government must support the state and local authorities to set up trained, well-equipped community policing with rapid response capacity,” he said.
The cleric further urged the government to conduct a thorough investigation into the crisis and ensure the prosecution of perpetrators and their sponsors.
Mohzo stressed the need to address the root causes of the violence, including historical grievances, environmental strain, poverty, and arms proliferation.
He also appealed for humanitarian aid for displaced persons scattered across the state, particularly those lacking shelter and basic needs.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who received the protesters at the New Government House in Rayfield, acknowledged the devastating impact of insecurity on Plateau.
He assured the Christian leaders and protesters that his administration is committed to restoring peace and securing lives and property in the state.
“For over two decades, insecurity has held us back. Our people can’t farm or invest. This must end,” Mutfwang said.
The governor thanked President Bola Tinubu for ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity and expressed confidence that peace would soon be restored.
“As your governor, I didn’t come to witness burials. My mission is to bring back Plateau’s glory and secure our future,” he stated.
Mutfwang vowed to pursue justice for victims and promised that all arrested in connection with the killings would be held accountable.
He also pledged to convey the forum’s demands to the president while urging citizens not to resort to self-help or retaliatory actions.
