Prominent indigenes of Tiv land are brainstorming to find a solution to the insecurity challenges in their territory.

The Tiv paramount ruler, Tor Tiv VI, His Royal Majesty, James Ayatse, on Monday convened a closed-door meeting with prominent Tiv sons and daughters at his palace in Gboko, Benue in a move the royal father described as an avenue to strengthen unity among the Tiv people.

Ayatse expressed optimism that the show of unity and shared commitment witnessed during the meeting could lay the foundation for collective efforts to restore peace, dignity, and stability across the land.

He commended attendees for speaking with one voice, emphasising that sustainable development was only possible in an atmosphere of peace and unity.

“We gathered as Tiv people in a stakeholders’ meeting to examine our challenges and map out a way forward in love and unity for the progress of our people and the state,” he said.

“It was a unifying discussion, and we are hopeful for brighter days ahead as we work together as siblings across Tiv land.

“The spirit of the meeting reflected unity across the length and breadth of Benue. We will continue to speak with one voice and remain united for the good of our people.

“I do not foresee any divisions or disagreements. We are all facing common problems and must address them together,” he added.

NAN reports that the meeting was attended by traditional and religious leaders, senior government officials, politicians, and other notable Tiv figures.

The stakeholder session, presided over by the Tor Tiv, had in attendance Gov. Hyacinth Alia, former governors, Gabriel Suswam and Samuel Ortom, as well as all Tiv-speaking National Assembly members, former ministers, and other key dignitaries.

NAN reports that a similar meeting held simultaneously at the Och’Idoma’s Palace in Otukpo.

Prominent sons and daughters from Benue South Senatorial District also deliberated on similar issues affecting the region.
