In a major political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has formally adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its presidential candidate.

The declaration was made by Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo on Thursday during President Tinubu’s working visit to the state. Speaking at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, Soludo said the endorsement reflects the shared progressive ideals between APGA and the ruling All Progressives Congress.

“Progressives are working together,” Soludo announced to a cheering crowd. He added that the alliance is rooted in a common political philosophy of development-focused governance and national unity.

This endorsement marks a significant political realignment in southeastern Nigeria, where APGA has historically been a dominant regional party. The move could influence broader political coalitions leading up to the 2027 elections.

President Tinubu, who is midway through his first term in office, was in Anambra to inspect ongoing infrastructure projects and engage with community leaders.

Further details on the APGA-APC collaboration and party strategy for 2027 are expected in the coming days.
