The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd., has raised alarm over what it describesd as an emerging coordinated sabotage campaign allegedly orchestrated by a syndicate of known and faceless actors, both within and outside the organization.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the company accused this group of spreading lies and deliberate misinformation aimed at discrediting NNPC’s leadership and halting its ongoing reforms.
These actions are designed to derail its transformation efforts towards becoming a corruption-free, performance-driven energy giant, in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“Their tactics include planting scandalous and fabricated reports, curated to distract leadership, mislead the public, and undermine the commitment of our dedicated workforce and reform-minded Nigerians,” the statement read.

The company said these efforts are a sign that “those who feel threatened by reform, transparency, accountability, and change” are desperate to resist the overhaul of the national energy institution.
“These are calculated efforts… a clear evidence of the lengths to which they will go to obstruct the transformation of Nigeria’s foremost energy institution,” it said.
While anticipating a rise in defamatory content in the coming days, the company emphasized it will not be distracted from its course. “The transformation is underway, and no amount of sabotage will stop it,” the statement declared.
NNPC Ltd. called on its employees, stakeholders, and the general public to remain focused and not be swayed by “the noise,” assuring that the institution remains steadfast in its commitment to reform.
