The West African Examinations Council,WAEC, has discovered technical issues during internal review of the recently-released results of its West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, for School Candidates.

The News Agency of Nigeria report’s that the WASSCE  was released on Aug. 4.

In a press release, its Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina said its internal post results release procedure showed some technical bugs in some results.

“As a part of efforts to curb examination malpractice, the council embarked on an innovation (paper serialisation),” it said.

WAEC said that the innovation was in line with best practices in assessment.

“The paper serialisation was carried out in Mathematics, English Language, Biology and Economics.

“However, internal post results release procedure showed some technical bugs in the results.”

It said that it decided to review and correct the technical glitches that led to the situation.

“As a result access to WASSCE for School Candidates 2025 has been denied on the results checker portal”, the statement read.

The council apologised to the affected candidates and the general public,  and advised the candidates to check for their results again in the next 24 hours when the matter would have been resolved.
