Tinubu to Attend Olubadan Coronation as Ibadan Airport Reopens

President Bola Tinubu is expected in Ibadan on Friday, September 26, for the coronation of Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The event will hold at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, and will be attended by traditional rulers, political leaders, business executives and other dignitaries.

Ahead of the ceremony, the upgraded Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan received its first flight since its closure in March for renovation. The flight brought an advance team from the Presidency in preparation for the visit.

The coronation activities, which commenced earlier in the week, featured interfaith prayers, cultural displays and a lecture delivered by Professor Toyin Falola.

The Oyo State Government said more than 2,000 security personnel from the Police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Amotekun Corps had been deployed to provide security during the programme.

Chairman of the Coronation Committee, Chief Bayo Oyero, said arrangements were in place for a smooth exercise, noting that the event would be broadcast live and streamed for viewers in Nigeria and abroad.

Ladoja, 81, a former governor of Oyo State, will be formally installed as Olubadan, in line with the city’s traditional succession system.
