The Senate has approved a request by President Bola Tinubu to appoint new 20 special advisers.
The request was contained in a letter from the president and read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, at the plenary session on Tuesday.
No names and portfolios were attached to the request.
The approval was secured after the Senate Leader, Senator Ibrahim Gobir moved the motion for the Senate to consider the request of the president and seconded by the Senate Minority Leader.
This comes days after the president announced the Speaker House of Reps, Femi Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff, COS, and Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, former Deputy Governor of Jigawa as Deputy COS.
Immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume was also named as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Credible News reports that the correspondence is the first from Tinubu to the Senate since he assumed office as Nigeria’s president on 29 May.
