The Department of State Services, DSS, has confirmed the arrest of the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Services, Peter Afunanya, in a statement on Saturday confirmed that: “Emefiele is now in our custody for some investigative reasons.”
Afunanya, however, urged the public, particularly the media, to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.
Credible News recalls that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday suspended Emefiele “sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.”
Following his suspension, Tinubu in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, appointed Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as the acting CBN governor.
