Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has offered scholarship to Miss Nkechinyere Umeh who came tops in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, UTME.
In a statement issued by Soludo’s Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, on Tuesday, the Governor congratulated the student on making the state proud with her exceptional performance.
“The Governor has announced a well-deserved scholarship for her to study any course of her choice at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University”, the statement disclosed.
The scholarship will not only serve as a token of the State Government’s appreciation for her hard work but also provide her with the opportunity to pursue her dreams and contribute to the development of the state in the future, the Governor stated.
Soludo wished Umeh continued success in her future academic pursuits, and encouraged other young Anambra students all over to be inspired by Umeh’s outstanding performance.
He said they should take advantage of the improved conducive learning environment in the State and strive for excellence at all times.
Credible News reports that Umeh, a student of Deeper Life High School, Mowe, Ogun State, emerged as the UTME top scorer with 360 out of 400.
The 16-year-old hails from Amichi, a community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The development comes days after Ejikeme Mmesoma, a student of the Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, confirmed that she forged her UTME scores. She scored 249 but claimed she had 360, provoking a national uproar and strident rebuttal from JAMB.
