The Matildas defeated Canada 3-0 also on Monday.
Ireland were the better side in the first half but the best chance of the half fell to Nigeria.
Asisat Oshoala was put through on goal by Rasheedat Ajibade but the Barcelona star effort went wide.
The Super Falcons took control of the game early in the second half and nearly took the lead through Uchenna Kanu.
Oshoala came close with another effort few seconds later.
Nigeria will face the first-place team in Group D in the Round of 16.
