The Delta State Police Commissioner, Wale Abass has announced a ban on tinted vehicles and vehicles without number plates as part of security measures to combat insecurity in the state.

The State’s Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday explained that the new order will reduce the rate of kidnapping and nefarious activities in the state.

Abass further stated that a warning has been issued to officers of the Delta State command on the need to discharge their responsibilities actively based on the new development.

He urged the public to bear with the Police as this might be uncomfortable for residents and road users while noting that all vehicles plying the road must be registered and must have opened number plates. He reiterated that any vehicle found contrary will be impounded.

The statement partly reads: “The Commissioner of Police charged all area commanders, Divisional Police Heads and Tactical Commanders to double their efforts in the fight against criminals in the state.

“He equally appealed to members of the public to understand and bear with Command as the measures being emplaced, which is in their ultimate interest might bring slight discomfort to the residents, particularly road users.”
