The Ogun State Police Command on Saturday discovered three unidentified bodies of young men suspected to have been killed by another gang of rival cult group.

The bodies were discovered in an abandoned building at Abibatu Toronbi Community, Ijoko-Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the State.

This is coming barely after a month of bloodbath in Sagamu where at least eight lives were lost to rival cult killings.

The assailants, were said to have macheted these young men to death and also cut off their left hands.

Two of the deceased allegedly said to be members of Eiye Confraternity have been identified as Alias Memory and Rilwan.

A statement from the spokesperson for the state command, SP Omolola Odutola disclosed that a community leader from Abibatun Toronbi in Ijoko informed the police of the bodies in an uncompleted building which also served as the criminal hideouts in the area.

The statement partly read: “A community leader in Abibatun Toronbi Community, Ijoko Ogun State reported to Ijoko Police Post that on the 13th of October, 2023 three unidentified young men were found macheted to death in an abandoned building /criminal hideout within their community.

“Upon receipt of the report, policemen arrived the scene and observed that the deceased left hands were cut off.

“Two of them were identified as Memory and Rilwan a suspected cultist of the Eiye Confraternity group who have been on the police look out for several crimes. Corpses were evacuated and deposited at the morgue for further investigation, while the area is under close monitoring.

“The police has initiated a thorough investigation into the killings with the assistance from local informants.

“Efforts are ongoing to gather more information about the activities of these cult groups and their connections to other criminal acts in the area.

“The police are committed to bringing all perpetrators involved in cultism and related crimes to justice, ensuring the safety and security of the community”.

The community was encouraged to continue providing valuable information to the police to aid further investigation and the apprehension of other individuals involved in criminal activities in the area.

The police called for collaborative efforts with the community as this is said to be very essential in combating cultism and ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all residents.
