Dr Comfort Adokwe, an abducted female lecturer at Nasarawa State University Keffi, NSUK , has been released after three days in captivity.
Dr. Adokwe was released Tuesday night after her family paid a N5 million ransom, our correspondent learned on Wednesday.
Dr. Adokwe, a lecturer at the Faculty of Administration and the Deputy Director of Gender Studies, was kidnapped from her home in Angwan Jaba, Keffi town, on Sunday night by gunmen.
The attackers were said to have stormed the house, shooting sporadically into the air before fleeing with the lecturer.
Mr. Timothy Adokwe, a family member, told journalists that the lecturer was released from captivity around 10 p.m. Tuesday night after the ransom was paid.
He claimed that before the lecturer was released, a family member delivered the ransom to a predetermined location.
He stated that security agents did their best to track down the kidnappers but were persuaded not to take any drastic measures that would endanger the lecturer’s life.
“We’re more concerned with protecting our sister.” The security guards did their best and assisted in tracking them down.
“However, based on her abductors’ threat to kill her if anything goes wrong, we pleaded with the security agents not to do anything that jeopardizes her safety.”
“I know the security agents were watching everything and might come after them.”
“We would like to thank everyone who helped in any way.”
