In a significant development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has chosen to intervene in the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, according to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.
Governor Mohammed made this announcement while addressing State House correspondents at the conclusion of a Police Council meeting held in Abuja.
The governor emphasized that the President’s timely intervention is expected to provide much-needed relief and stability to the people of Rivers State. He described President Tinubu’s intervention as a demonstration of his leadership qualities and his commitment to fostering peace and unity in the country.
Governor Mohammed praised the President for acting as a father figure for all Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations. He underscored the President’s inclusive approach to governance by addressing and resolving national issues that have security implications.
He added, “The President has shown that he is a President for everybody; the President for PDP and President for APC by intervening today and bringing succor and solace to the people of Rivers and Nigeria.”
Governor Mohammed, speaking on behalf of Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, expressed their satisfaction with President Tinubu’s leadership qualities and pledged their continued support for his administration. They commended the President’s handling of court cases involving PDP Governors, highlighting the absence of interference and the professionalism exhibited by the judiciary under his leadership.
The Governor also acknowledged the President’s commitment to good governance and expressed their intent to collaborate with him to bring about positive changes in Nigeria.
The political crisis in Rivers State emerged this week when lawmakers, reportedly loyal to former Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike, initiated impeachment proceedings against the current Governor.
