The proprietor of the College of Education, Ero, Ondo State, Mr Oyeleye Fasua has appealed to the protesting students of the institution to be calm, saying the issue of mobilising them for the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, would be addressed.

A plea for calm echoes through the corridors of the College of Education, Ero, Ondo State, as its proprietor, Mr. Oyeleye Fasua, addresses the concerns of protesting students.

The students are voicing their frustration over the institution’s failure to mobilize them for the National Youth Service Corps , NYSC,  after completing their degree programs affiliated with Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko , AAUA.

Recall that the students of the college had staged a protest over the failure of the institution to mobilise them for the NYSC after completing their degree programmes in the institution.

The five-year degree programmes were affiliated with the Adekunle Ajasin Univerisity, Akungba Akoko, AAUA.

During the protest, which escalated to the blockade of the Akure-Ilesa Expressway, Fasua found himself in a tense situation as students demanded the return of tuition fees if NYSC mobilization couldn’t be secured.

The institution’s leader, recognizing the students’ dissatisfaction, appeals for calm, promising to address the issue of NYSC mobilization.

Fasua sheds light on the underlying issue, emphasizing that the college’s actions were based on promises from AAUA’s management that students would be eligible for NYSC upon program completion.

Although the Memorandum of Understanding with AAUA did not explicitly stipulate NYSC mobilization, Fasua insists that verbal assurances were given by the university’s management.

Expressing regret over the discrepancy in the NYSC list released by AAUA, Fasua condemns any form of violence or property damage during protests. He acknowledges the severity of the situation and initiates communication with AAUA to resolve the issue amicably.

Calling for restraint, the proprietor urges students to refrain from taking the law into their hands and emphasizes the importance of peaceful dialogue.

Fasua places trust in AAUA’s commitment to investigating and rectifying the discrepancy, ensuring that the promised NYSC opportunities are extended to deserving students.

In the midst of tensions, the call for peaceful resolution echoes, fostering hope for a constructive dialogue between the college and AAUA to address the students’ concerns.
