In a notable development during the Kogi State governorship election, security agencies reportedly arrested the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, Olayinka Braimoh and seven of his security details in Kabba, Kabba Bunu Local Government Area.
The arrest allegedly occurred after the security operatives claimed to have found campaign materials in his car.
Concerns were raised when Braimoh’s aides and party officials could not reach him on the phone, leading to fears of a possible kidnapping. His media aide, Musa Yakubu, expressed apprehension and called on security agencies to locate Braimoh’s whereabouts.
Later in the day, it was discovered that the police had arrested and detained Braimoh.
He was subsequently released, but his security detail remained in detention.
The police reportedly held him due to campaign materials found in his car. The specific details of the arrest and the charges were not immediately available.
