In a significant legal development, the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory ,FCT, in Maitama, Abuja, has ruled on the remand of former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria ,CBN, Godwin Emefiele.
The court, presided over by Justice Hamza Muazu, ordered the remand of Emefiele in Kuje Correctional facility pending the ruling on his bail application.
This decision follows Emefiele’s arraignment and his plea of not guilty to a six-count amended charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ,EFCC. Among the accusations leveled against him is abuse of office.
Justice Muazu, after hearing arguments on Emefiele’s bail application, scheduled the ruling on the bail application for November 22. Additionally, the trial is set to commence on November 28.
