In a recent development, Senator Abba Moro has emerged as the Senate Minority Leader, representing the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP.
The two-term Senator, who hails from Benue Senatorial District, was nominated by the opposition party in the Senate and subsequently affirmed.
Abba Moro is a seasoned Nigerian politician and educational administrator, having previously served as the Minister of the Federal Ministry of Interior. Born on July 3, 1956, he currently holds the position of Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi. In the 2019 elections, he was elected into the Senate, representing Benue Senatorial District.
Senator Moro’s appointment as the Senate Minority Leader comes as a result of the zoning of the position to the North Central by the Senate. He takes over from Senator Simon Davou Mwadkwon, who represented Plateau North Senatorial District and was removed by the Appeal Court.
The newly elected Minority Leader, despite being a first-timer in the Senate, brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously served as a minister in the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
His nomination and affirmation underscore the dynamics of leadership changes within the Senate, reflecting the ongoing developments in Nigeria’s political landscape.
