Manchester City’s striker, Erling Haaland, has etched his name in Premier League history by becoming the fastest player to reach 50 goals.

Haaland achieved this milestone in just 48 matches, smashing the previous record held by Andy Cole, who reached 50 goals in 65 matches.

The Norwegian striker’s remarkable feat was secured after scoring against Liverpool, solidifying his position as a prolific goal-scorer in the Premier League. The list of the fastest players to score 50 Premier League goals now features Haaland at the top, followed by Andy Cole (65 apps), Alan Shearer (66 apps), Ruud van Nistelrooy (68 apps), and Fernando Torres (72 apps).

He is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Manchester City in the Premier League and for the Norwegian national team. He is regarded as one of the best players in the world due to his speed, strength, positioning, and finishing inside the box. With 36 goals in his first Premier League season, Haaland broke the record for most goals scored by a player in a single season.

Haaland came through the Norwegian youth system and played for Bryne and Molde before moving to Austria with Red Bull Salzburg in January 2019. His performances there earned him a move to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, where he won the DFB-Pokal in 2021.

He moved to Manchester City for a fee of €60 million in the summer of 2022,  (£51.2 million), and was instrumental in the club winning a continental treble in his debut campaign; his 52 goals across all competitions was the most ever for a Premier League player.

Haaland was named the league’s Young Player and Player of the Season, becoming the first player to win both awards in the same year.

Haaland’s impressive goal-scoring record extends to his ability to find the net against 20 out of the 21 opposing sides he has faced in the Premier League, with Brentford being the only exception.

The striker, known for his clinical finishing and goal-scoring prowess, also set records during the previous campaign by scoring the most goals in a 38-game season. Haaland concluded the season with an incredible 36 goals, showcasing his impact and importance to Manchester City’s attacking prowess.

As Haaland continues to rewrite the record books, his contributions to the Premier League are becoming increasingly legendary.
