Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has made a significant announcement, declaring a monthly allowance of N10,000 for members of the National Youth Service Corps ,NYSC, serving in the state.
The governor revealed this initiative during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream II youth corps members deployed to the state at Damare Permanent Orientation Camp in Girei Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Governor Fintiri congratulated the NYSC members for their deployment to the state and emphasized the importance of their security. He explained that the N10,000 monthly allowance is intended to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on the corps members.
During his address, Governor Fintiri urged the youth corps members to prioritize their safety and adhere to personal security tips provided during security lectures. He emphasized the need for vigilance and directed them to use the distress call line in the Orientation Guide Booklets in case of emergency situations.
Governor Fintiri also encouraged the corps members to actively participate in the skills acquisition training offered at the camp, highlighting the evolving employment landscape where white-collar jobs are becoming scarcer.
He expressed the belief that Adamawa State provides ample opportunities with a favorable, hospitable, and inclusive business environment.
Mr. Jingi Denis, the NYSC Coordinator in Adamawa, appreciated the state government for its ongoing support toward members and staff of the NYSC scheme.
He urged the youth corps members to comply with NYSC by-laws and maintain good conduct, emphasizing the significance of the orientation course as a fundamental aspect of their service year.
