The National Identity Management Commission ,NIMC, has expressed readiness to engage with state governments, aiming to establish accurate and dependable databases crucial for meeting the diverse needs of their citizens.
Abisoye Coker-Odusote, the Director General of NIMC, highlighted this commitment during the reception of Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, the General Manager of the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Coker-Odusote emphasized the importance of collaboration between NIMC and various states, envisioning the utilization of NIMC’s database to enhance service delivery and inform policymaking.
“In this era, collaboration is essential for making a significant impact. To achieve substantial progress, we must join forces and work hand in hand with each other. It’s crucial to step beyond our comfort zones, ensuring collective efforts towards advancing the nation,” stated Coker-Odusote, emphasizing the significance of mutual cooperation.
Adebiyi-Abiola’s visit aimed to explore potential collaboration between the two governmental bodies, focusing on efficient strategies for the effective capture of citizens’ and residents’ identities.
She stressed the importance of a systematic approach to ensure that Nigeria, particularly Lagos State, offers its people optimal social welfare and essential amenities, demonstrating governmental responsibility and responsiveness.
Highlighting a significant advantage of the registration system, Adebiyi-Abiola noted its capability to pinpoint and locate specific individuals registered with the agency, particularly within Lagos State. This capability enhances the government’s ability to cater to the needs of its populace efficiently.
