Davido receives ‘Outstanding Georgia Citizen’ recognition from U.S.

Award winning Nigerian Afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been recognised as an ‘Outstanding Georgia Citizen’ by the State of Georgia, United States.

The singer attended the State of Georgia General Assembly meeting held on Friday, December 1, 2023, to receive the honour.

The ‘OBO’ crooner shared a clip from the meeting with a copy of his proclamation letter via his X handle, formally twitter.

“This morning I attended the U.S State of Georgia General Assembly meeting with the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia State Senate to be recognized as an ‘Outstanding Georgia Citizen’… God is good”, Davido wrote.

The letter of Davido’s proclamation as “Outstanding Georgia Citizen” was signed by the Secretary of State of the State of Georgia, Brad Raffensperger.

“May this Outstanding Citizen be afforded every courtesy as a Goodwill Ambassador from Georgia in his travels to other States, to nations beyond the borders of the United States of America, or wherever he may hereafter travel or reside. Thank you for your service to our State”,the letter read in part.

Davido, is an American-born Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer. He was born in Georgia and raised in Lagos.

The artiste made his music debut as a member of the group KB International.

He rose to fame after releasing “Dami Duro”, the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo in 2012, from which six additional singles —”Back When”, “Ekuro”, “Overseas”, “All of You”, “Gbon Gbon” and “Feel Alright”— were taken.

In 2012, Davido won the Next Rated award at The Headies.

Between 2013 and 2015, he released the hit singles “Gobe”, “One of a Kind”, “Skelewu”, “Aye”, “Tchelete”, “Naughty”, “Owo Ni Koko”, “The Sound” and “The Money”.
