In a remarkable display of commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Tinubu, Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, took the initiative to Kabawa community in Kogi State.

The mission aimed at reaching out to impoverished households and advocating for the extensive array of humanitarian and poverty alleviation programs initiated by the current administration.

During her visits to various communities, Dr. Edu passionately encouraged residents to embrace the diverse programs designed to uplift the poor, vulnerable, and those residing in rural and hard-to-reach areas.

The minister emphasized that the Renewed Hope Agenda was crafted to breathe new life into Nigerians, especially those facing adversity.

In her engagement with the local population, Dr. Edu assured them that the federal government would introduce skill acquisition programs to empower individuals and lift them out of poverty.

The visit also included the distribution of Renewed Hope grants to the very poor and vulnerable, marking the official commencement of the program.

“We have flagged off officially the renewed home grants for the very poor and vulnerable in society, and we did it in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital. I came to see the beneficiaries where they live and truly appreciate the enormity of the challenge,” said Dr. Edu.

The minister delved into the heart of impoverished neighborhoods, identifying petty traders and supporting their businesses to foster growth.

Additionally, she outlined plans to implement rural skill acquisition programs that directly impact communities, providing residents with essential skills for self-sustainability.

Dr. Edu highlighted various social intervention programs already in place, such as the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program (GEEP), conditional cash transfers, and the forthcoming End Hunger initiative. She reiterated President Tinubu’s ambitious goal of lifting at least 50 million people out of poverty within the next 42 months.

“We will continue to change the narrative and will continue to impact the lives of Nigerians. President Bola Tinubu is 100% committed to this course,” assured Dr. Edu.

The minister’s hands-on approach and commitment to personally engaging with communities garnered appreciation from beneficiaries who expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided by the federal government under President Tinubu’s leadership.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke differently in their local dialects,including Rabi Omale, Habiba Suleiman, and Rukayat Momoh,and commended President Tinubu for fulfilling his campaign promise to the vulnerables in the rural communities.

They said seeing the Minister performing the functions as an agent of renewed hope without delegating the responsibility to her staff and officers in the Ministry has singled her out as a Renewed Hope Agenda Crusader

“We are very grateful for the opportunity provided by the Federal Government under President Tinubu, and we will not take for granted,” the beneficiaries explained.

As Dr. Edu and her team continue to traverse communities in pursuit of poverty eradication, the Renewed Hope Agenda stands as a beacon of promise for millions of Nigerians striving for a better future.
