Mr Norbert Chiazor, the Executive Assistant on Media to Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has urged journalists to remain in the forefront of reporting the gains of the state government’s policy thrust.

Chiazor made the call when he received on a familiarisation visit of the newly inaugurated executive members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists ,NUJ, Asaba Correspondents’ Chapel in Asaba.

He said that Oborevwori remained committed to the development of the state and would set a trail blazing direction in office.

Chiazor, who was accompanied by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA), Media to the governor, Mr Dennis Otu, said that the governor had a development model that would transform Delta.

The former NUJ chairman in the state, said that media practitioners as agents of progress bore a responsibility to enlighten the people on the activities of the government. This he said included the government’s policy thrust, called the M.O.R.E Agenda, which stands for:- Meaningful Development, Opportunities for all, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security.

He said, Oborevwori’s vision has started yielding results with the ongoing construction of the N78 billion Julius Berger flyover bridges, cloverleaf and roads expansion network contracts in Warri and Effurun.

“Also, the commissioning of projects across the state, payment of N40 billion to local government pensioners, five billion naira promotion arrears to state civil servants as well as recruitment of teachers and workers in the local government councils, among others”.

He called on the newly elected executive committee of the NUJ, Asaba correspondents’ Chapel, led by its Chairman, Mr Ifeanyi Olannye, to be servant leaders and to ensure they carry every member along.

Earlier, Olannye urged the Executive Assistant to convey their congratulatory message to the governor on his electoral and court victories, while pledging continued partnership with the administration.

He also commended Chiazor for his dedication to journalism, noting that his era as state NUJ chairman witnessed the training of over 50 journalists in London.

He urged him to use his new office to improve the fortunes of media practitioners in the state.
