Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna state on Wednesday solicited the support of governments and corporate entities for the wives and children left behind by fallen heroes.

The governor made the appeal at the launch of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and Appeal Fund held at the Arewa House, Kaduna.

According to the governor, since the colonial era, the armed forces had been involved in serving the people and many officers, rank and file had paid an ultimate price for protecting the peace of the country.

“Our departed heroes left behind wife and children that must be taken care of by not only the government but also the corporate entities and good spirited people.

“Their act of gallantry must be remembered always, while they still continue to spread around battling bandits, insurgents and other criminals elements,” he said.

The governor said the armed forces have also been recording successes despite huge challenges they are faced with.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the people who lost their lives in the unfortunate Tudun Biri bomb incident.

Earlier, Major Danjuma Baren (rtd.), Acting Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Kaduna state chapter, appealed to the governor to provide a befitting headquarter for the legion in the state.

He also sought government support in securing official vehicles to enable the association to discharge its responsibilities effectively.

Crediblenews reports that the governor donated N5 million to the state Chapter of the Nigerian Legion

He also called on corporate organisations, individuals to donate generously to support the families of the fallen heroes.
