The political temperature of Rivers State reached fever pitch this morning as bulldozers began demolition of the State House of Assembly.
The entire complex came under the hammer even as five lawmakers loyal to Governor Sim Fubara met earlier to consider the state’s 2024 Budget.
The factional Speaker, Edison Ehie, led other lawmakers loyal to the governor to hold a sitting early on Wednesday before the demolition began.
Ehie stated, during the session that the complex was due for repairs following the explosion that rocked the building on October 30, 2023, saying the governor will provide an alternative place for them to sit for the meantime.

Credible News recalls that Monday 27 lawmakers loyal to the immediate past governor, Nyesom Wike, decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, leaving only five members of the PDP with the incumbent governor.
The demolition of the House of Assembly was seen by observers as a deft move to prevent a planned impeachment and removal of the governor.
