Emeka Ike, a veteran Nollywood actor, has pondered on how his ex-wife’s claims led to the loss of his properties and deprived him access to his children.
In 2017, a Lagos Island Customary Court terminated Emeka Ike and his wife’s marriage due to domestic abuse.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds, presented by Hero Daniels, Ike claimed that his ex-wife’s assault charges caused him to lose properties worth millions of naira.
He stated that he did not come out to clear the air about the domestic violence charges leveled against him because the individuals “bullying” him were on social media.
“I didn’t come on the internet to clarify the allegations against me because it’s difficult to do because the same people who were bullying me on the internet ,they were still there,” Ike explained. ‘Don’t worry about him,’ they’ll say. He still misses her. ‘Move along.’
“And if you’re not ready for it, you’ll be crushed.” St. Nicholas College, located on CMD road in Magodo, was closed down. Over N480 million in investment was lost that year. All I could hear was a continuous battery. ‘I don’t beat this lady,’ I said. What exactly is going on? What’s going on, babe? Is it true that I beat you?’
‘No,’ she [my ex-wife] said. But you’re a celebrity, and they can always distort things.’ So I was gullible until I found she was the mastermind behind everything. Some women are too desperate to marry lawfully. And she once told me that I am not the marrying type. And I couldn’t figure it out. As a result, young men should be aware that there are many ladies who are not interested in marriage these days.”
He claimed he paid for his ex-wife’s schooling but had no idea he wasn’t “loved in return.”
The actor claimed that he and his family asked his ex-wife not to divorce him, but she refused.
She [my ex-wife] went to divorce herself. She said, ‘Judge, please, divorce me, I want to go.’ I said, ‘Kilode? Where are you going?’ I was on my knees. Felix Duke was on his knees. My sisters were on their knees in court. Even the people that came with my ex-wife to court were on their knees. They said, ‘Are you okay? What’s wrong with you?’ We didn’t understand what was going on in her psychology,” he recalled.
Ike said he believed his ex-wife was blackmailed by some “gunmen” she was involved with into divorcing him.
