The Federal Road Safety Corps ,FRSC, has cautioned motorists against driving above speed limits to minimise road crashes during the Christmas season.
Mr Anthony Uga, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, gave the warning in an interview  with the News Agency of Nigeria in Sango-Ota on Thursday.
Uga enjoined motorists to drive responsibly and and avoid the use of expired tyres in order to reach their destinations safely; motorists should key into the FRSC slogan for this year’s ember months Campaign, ” Speed Thrills, But Kills: Drive Responsibly and Avoid Overloading.”
“In addition, they should ensure that their vehicles are properly maintained and plan their journeys before embarking on any trip,” he said.
The sector commander also cautioned against reckless driving in order to catch up with business opportunities, noting that any expectations left in 2023 could be rolled over to 2024.

Uga advised drivers against night travelling because of poor visibility due to harmattan haze, which could lead to unnecessary loss of life.
The sector commander also implored drivers to rest properly before embarking on any journey, “as fatigue could result in loss of concentration and road accidents.”
