In a significant blow to criminal operations, the air component of Operation Whirl Punch in Kaduna state successfully neutralized the notorious kidnap kingpin known as Janari, along with several of his accomplices.
Janari was responsible for numerous kidnappings within Kaduna state and along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
The Nigerian Air Force, in a statement by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, confirmed that the air strikes were executed after intelligence indicated Janari and his gang were gathering near Gadar Katako in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, with intentions to launch attacks or abduct civilians.
The strikes were carried out to prevent any potential harm to vulnerable citizens.
Following the operation, further intelligence revealed the successful elimination of Janari and several other terrorists/kidnappers.
The air strikes were part of ongoing efforts to combat the rising incidents of kidnapping, with similar operations targeting kidnappers in Niger State achieving varying degrees of success.
