Mr. Bala Garba Tsanni, chairman of Katsina State’s Batagarawa Local Government, has been remanded in prison detention by a Magistrate court in Katsina on charges of murder, abduction, and culpable homicide.
The chairman and 11 others were charged in court with the suspected murder of Alhaji Dikko Ahmad, the village head of Dabaibayawa.
All the accused were charged under sections 59, 249, and 189 of the Katsina penal code law.
Earlier the Magistrate Abdulkarim Umar had directed the police to produce in court the accused on 25 January 2024.

The other 11 accused persons had been in prison custody for the past six months while the chairman was on bail throughout the period
Presenting the accused before the court on Thursday, January 25, 2024, the police said they had concluded an investigation on the matter.
This, however, led the chief Magistrate to order for his remand in prison custody till the 7th of March 2024.
