Ibadan explosion: Makinde signs Executive Order 001 on handling, storage of harmful substances

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde on Wednesday, signed into law Executive Order 001, 2024 on handling and storage of harmful substances.

This followed the unfortunate incident that claimed innocent lives and destroyed property in Old Bodija, Area of the Ibadan.

The law, according to the governor, is on the safe handling and storage of harmful substances in Oyo state.

Makinde in a brief signing ceremony held at his private office noted that the move became imperative in the light of the unfortunate incident at Bodija where explosives were stored in a residential area.

He stated that with the new law, such an incident will never reoccur in the state.

After signing the order, the Governor proceeded to the Ground Zero of the blast.

Speaking with journalists at the ground zero, Makinde said: “I just signed an executive order on handling and storage of harmful substances.

If you are caught in Oyo State not following the law, the law will take its full course. There is zero tolerance on handling of harmful substances”.
