The NAFDAC South-West Director, Rosline Ajayi, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Ibadan.

Ajayi disclosed that the agency got wind of the operation of the company through collaboration that existed within the agency.

She said: “We collaborate a lot; our state office in Osun sent an information via WhatsApp clip of the the company’s products

“However, while going through the file, I discovered that the company actually applied for registration, but no indication that inspection was done
or NAFDAC number given”.

The director added that an application and payment were not the same as registration, adding that a lot of procedures were involved in registration of a product.

Ajayi noted that the agency’s inspection officers were deployed to locate the company’s address and on getting there, they discovered that it was into the production of three varieties of juices without NAFDAC number.

“The first step we took was to seal the premises because it is an unauthorised premises producing unregistered products.

“We invited the producer to come to our office and it was when he came that we discovered that he actually registered for water production in 2018.

“He initiated registration for the production of juice but did not complete it”, he said.

Ajayi further disclosed that the producer did not have the necessary equipment for packaging and production of juice, and was required to buy additional machines in a follow up to getting the NAFDAC registration number.

She added that the agency was going to raise public awareness and mop up the B-Supreme juice already in circulation.

Ajayi further urged Nigerians to stop patronising products that do not have NAFDAC registration number.
