The Inspector-General of Police, I-G, Mr Olukayode Egbetokun has ordered the reactivation of the Police data system to capture details of all serving police personnel in the country.

The Police Smartforce Database System was introduced to ease administration, tracking, postings, transfers and other issues relating to each personnel.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, disclosed that the reactivation of the database was part of the I-G’s digitisation of police duties.

“The main objective of the database is to tremendously enhance competence and effective service delivery in all areas of policing, especially, in the smooth administrative management of the Nigeria Police Force.

“The system, which is integrated with modern technology and state of the art appliances, will reduce reliance on manual and burdensome traditional administrative methods”, he said.

He added that the I-G reiterated his vision for a police driven by cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence in its duties.

The I-G, therefore, ordered immediate commencement of the digitisation process across all commands and formations for timeous upgrade and operation of the system.

He noted that all officers should enroll at their various commands and formations.
