Team Nigeria has won two more medals at the ongoing Africa Senior Weightlifting Championship in Egypt as Edidiong Umoafia claimed two silver medals.

The 2022 Commonwealth bronze medalist lifted 144kg in snatch and 170kg in clean and jerk with a total of 314.

The Media Officer, Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, Amaechi Agbo in a statement on Tuesday night disclosed that Umoafia competed in the 73kg men’s category to claim the two silver medals.

“Umoafia’s win automatically takes Nigeria’s medal haul at the championship to eight.

“Rafiatu Lawal and Adijat Olarinoye had earlier the same day won three gold and three silver medals respectively”, Agbo said.
