President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government has appealed to the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, to see reasons and not embark on a nationwide strike.

The Federal Government does not want workers to continue going on strike, according to Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris.

Owing to the hardships facing Nigerians, organized labor had given the federal government a 14-day ultimatum.

In response, the minister declared that the Federal Government would not break its pledges to the employees.

Idris declared that the government would uphold its end of the bargaining with the unions.

The minister stated, “Well, we appeal to labour to always see reason with the government. It is not in the government’s interest for workers to continue on strike.

“I believe the government keeps its promises. If they, NLC, TUC,  have other concerns, I believe they will meet with the government, and the government is always willing to listen to labor, so that we can reach an amicable solution to all of these issues.

“We appeal to labor, let them come back around the table, and continue to have engagements and conversations around whatever grey areas they believe they have in some of these already signed agreements.”
