Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football Federations, CAF, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu will be present at the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
The match between Nigeria and hosts Cote d’Ivoire will take place at the Alassanne Ouattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday.
During a press conference on Friday at the Palace de la Culture in Trechville, Abidjan, Motsepe was questioned about the possibility of Africa hosting the World Cup again.
Motsepe said, “Nigeria must put in a bid. The Nigerian president (Bola Tinubu) is coming to watch the final on Sunday. I will have a conversation with him about it.”

Recall that Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima was in attendance when the Super Eagles defeated South Africa 4-2 on penalties in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
The AFCON final clash between Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire will kick off at 9 p.m. Nigerian time.
Recall that ahead of the Super Eagles’ quarter-final clash with Angola, Tinubu put across a video call to the team as he charged them to victory.
The video of the moment was shared by the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, who noted that the president called to motivate the team ahead of their quarter-final encounter in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.
The Super Eagles have also expressed their interest in having the President live with them in Cote d’Ivoire as they look to make the nation proud on the continent.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kashim Shettima led the Super Eagles to a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over South Africa in the AFCON 2023 semi-finals on Wednesday, following a 1-1 draw in normal and extra time.
